Etymology[edit]
False second-person plural (with -tok) of an earlier sziasz variant of szia, supplanting former sziatok, sziótok. Compare szervusztok, szevasztok, as well as hellósztok, the latter from rebracketing -sztok by the analogy of sziasztok.[1]

Usage notes[edit]
Used both for hello and goodbye when said to more than one person.
