Catalan

Etymology

From Lua error in Module:etymology at line 156: Old Occitan (pro) is not set as an ancestor of Catalan (ca) in Module:languages/data/2. The ancestor of Catalan is Old Catalan (roa-oca). (compare Occitan téisser), from Latin texere, present active infinitive of texō (compare French tisser, Spanish tejer), from Proto-Italic *teksō, either from Proto-Indo-European *tḗtḱ-ti or from *teḱ-se-ti, both from *teḱ- (to beget, produce).
