  1. early (at a time in advance of the usual or expected event)
    Jag tog en tidig lunch idag, så jag har redan ätit.
    I took an early lunch today, so I've already eaten.
  2. early (arriving a time before expected; sooner than on-time)
    Tidningsbudet var ovanligt tidigt idag - tidningen hade kommit redan innan jag vaknade.
    The paperboy was unusually early today - the newspaper had arrived already before I woke up.
  3. early (near the start or beginning)
    Goethe var en tidig romantiker.
    Goethe was an early romanticist.
    John tyckte egentligen om tidiga morgnar, men sov oftast igenom dem.
    John actually liked early mornings, but usually slept through them.
