Etymology

Attested since 1851. From Tavringer Romani tjej, from Romani ćhaj (girl), a feminine form of ćhavo (boy). Derived from the root found in the Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "psu" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF., corresponding to Pali छाप (chāpa, the young of an animal).
