     Looking at the [literature written in] Chinese characters, I know that French will also end up in the same place. The state of French literature in our country in the future is something I can predict from this very day. In some decades time, people will see the works of Nguyễn Mạnh Tường, or those by Phạm Duy Khiêm, for how unFrench they are, not unlike how unrefined the works of the old Sào Nam were, or how the officials at the Sử quán during the reign of Tự Đức made all those grammatical mistakes! So why do people still overvalue French like they were overvaluing Chinese in the old days?
