Usage notes
[edit]Like all ordinal numbers, treas precedes the noun it modifies. The noun may be in the nominative case even where the genitive would normally be expected:
- i gceann an lae ― at the end of the day vs. i gceann an treas lá ― at the end of the third day
- tar éis an chláir ― after the programme vs. tar éis an treas clár ― after the third programme
