From Proto-Albanian *treuδ-, from Proto-Indo-European *trewd- (to squeeze, crush, press). Cognate to Latin trūdō (to push, force, press) and Gothic 𐌿𐍃𐌸𐍂𐌹𐌿𐍄𐌰𐌽 (usþriutan, to burden).[1]
