- (figuratively) to twist the knife, to rub salt in the wound, to add insult to injury (to make someone's suffering even worse)
Conjugation[edit]
See vääntää. veistä is in the partitive case, but is inflected in the genitive in action nouns: see Appendix:Finnish verb phrases. haavassa is not inflected.
