Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Brazilian Portuguese vatapá, from Yoruba ẹ̀bà Tápà (pirão thickened in the style of the Nupe people).

  1. An Afro-Brazilian dish made with bread, shrimp, coconut milk, peanuts and palm oil mashed into a creamy paste.
