    • 1816, John Macgowan, Infernal Conference; Or Dialogues of Devils:
      The winged gales are not able to convey the vessel so fast, but that it is overtaken by Jehovah in his cloudy chariot, riding velociously in the rapid storm, designed as the messenger of Jonah's arrest.
    • 1850, Peter Lund Simmonds, Coffee as it Is, and as it Ought to be, page 42:
      [] put into the machine as much raw coffee as will rather more than three parts fill it, and commence roasting, by turning the handle quickly and incessantly, though not velociously.
