German[edit]

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [foːɐ̯ˈheːʁo(ː)]

Adverb[edit]

vorhero

  1. (obsolete) Alternative form of vorher [until 1800]
    • 1733, Johann Albr. Grunauer, Koch-Buch:
Nehme junge Hühner, [] thue Zucker und gutes Gewürtz darauf, vorhero aber muß man geriebene Semmel daran thun, laß es nicht lang kochen, denn die Stachelbeer sind bald weich, und müssen auch gantz bleiben, so ists recht.
(please add an English translation of this quotation)

Usage notes[edit]

This form of vorher was common in prose as late as the mid 18th century, and was still found in translation dictionaries in the late 18th century.[1] Vorher had begun to overtake it in the early 18th century, however, and was dominant by the early 19th century. By the mid 19th century, vorhero was archaic and limited to poetic use.[2][3]
