Danish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Older vurde, from Old Norse virða, from Proto-Germanic *wirþijaną (to value). Derived from the adjective *werþaz (worth). The modern Danish form is extended with the suffix -ere after Middle Low German werdēren, a derivation form the same adjective.
