Etymology
Possibly from or related to nyanga, from Mende nyanga (“ostentation; showing off”). Possibly influenced by Spanish yanga (“carelessly; without necessity”). Compare Proto-Bantu *-yȧng- (“dance in joy”) and Kongo -yangalala (“be happy”).
