Jamaican Creole

Etymology

Possibly from or related to nyanga, from Mende nyanga (ostentation; showing off). Possibly influenced by Spanish yanga (carelessly; without necessity). Compare Proto-Bantu *-yȧng- (dance in joy) and Kongo -yangalala (be happy).
