From Ottoman Turkish یورك (yürek), from Old Turkic [script needed] (yürek) , from Proto-Turkic *yürek, *yür- (heart; courage). May be related to Proto-Mongolic *jirüken (heart). Cognate with Turkish yürek, Azerbaijani ürək.
