From Byzantine Greek κλωσσώ (klōssṓ, “to cluck”), from Ancient Greek κλώζω (klṓzō, “to cluck”).

sitter, broody hen (a hen which is sitting on and warming her eggs in order for them to hatch)
Η κλώσσα φροντίζει τα κλωσσοπούλια της.
I klóssa frontízei ta klossopoúlia tis.
The broody hen is looking after her chicks.
(colloquial, derogatory, figuratively) windbag, chatterbox (a loud and talkative woman)
