Etymology

Compound with second member as in χρῡσαυγέω (khrūsaugéō, to shine like gold), σκῐαυγέω (skiaugéō, to be purblind) and βολαυγέω (bolaugéō, to emit rays), and with an adjectival or verbal first member. Thus, either related to μαρμάρεος (marmáreos, flashing), or to μαρμαίρω (marmaírō, to flash).
