Etymology
[edit]Sanskritization of Eastern Indo-Aryan जठर (jaṭhara), derived from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ȷ́r̥tʰáram, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵl̥-th₂-ero-, from *ǵelt- (“belly”). Cognate with Proto-Germanic *kelþaz.
