Borrowed from Classical Persian شربت (šarbat), from Arabic شَرْبَة (šarba). Compare Gujarati શરબત (śarbat), Hindi शर्बत (śarbat), Punjabi ਸ਼ਰਬਤ (śarbat), Doteli शर्वत (śarvat), Maithili शर्वत (śarvat), Bengali শরবত (śorbot), Assamese চৰ্বত (sorbot).
