Etymology[edit]
Back-formed from the binomial name নজরুল ইসলাম (nozrul islam), borrowed from Arabic نذر الإسلام (naḏr al-islām, literally “vow of Islam”), a compound of نذر (naḏr, “vow”) + ال (al-, definite article) + إسلام (“Islām”). Doublet of নাজির (nazir).
