Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Like ἑλειοσέλινον (heleiosélinon), it is understandable as a compound of ἕλειος (héleios, muddy, swampy) +‎ χρυσός (khrusós, gold), with the form -ἑλι- being a shortening. However, Strömberg thinks it is a loan.
