Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish چانطهجی (çantacı, “maker or seller of bags”), equivalent to çanta (“bag”) + -cı.

çantacı (definite accusative çantacıyı, plural çantacılar)
- maker or seller of bags
- (historical) the officer whose duty was to carry a bag full of gold when the sultan was outside the palace
