[edit]From Proto-Mordvinic *pəŕä~*piŕä, from Proto-Finno-Ugric *perä (“hindquarters, back part of something”). Cognates include Moksha пря (pŕa), Finnish perä, Livonian piera, Komi-Zyrian бӧр (bör), Western Mansi па̄р (pār).
