Bulgarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Slavic *rьvьnivъ. Morphologically identical to ре́вен (réven, zeal) (dialectal) +‎ -ив (-iv). The meaning jealous is probably inherited from Old Church Slavonic рьвьнивъ (rĭvĭnivŭ), while the dialectal desirable is native.

ревни́в (revnív)

  1. jealous, envious (for person)
    Synonym: завистли́в (zavistlív)
