[edit] Armenian
[edit] Etymology
From Turkish içli köfte, from içli (“‘stuffed, with filling’”), from iç (“‘the inside’”) + -li, and köfte (“‘kofta’”). Literally, "stuffed kofta", called so because usually this dish is made in a form of torpedo-shaped fried croquette stuffed with minced beef or lamb.
Turkish köfte together with Armenian քյուֆթա (k’yuft’a) are borrowed from Persian. See քյուֆթա.
