Compare Avestan 𐬠𐬀𐬑𐬙𐬀 (baxta, lot, fortune) (cognate to Sanskrit भक्ति (bhaktí, distribution, division, share) and भक्त (bhaktá, distributed, assigned, alloted)), past participle of [script needed] (bag-), [script needed] (baž-, to distribute) (compare Sanskrit भजति (√bhaj, to divide, distribute, allot or apportion to)) from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂g- or *bʰag- (to distribute).
