Etymology[edit]

Possibly related to Northern Kurdish نهارتن (nihartin, to look, watch, glance) and Feyli Southern Kurdish نووڕین (nûrrîn), which are cognates to Persian نِگَر (negar) and نِگاه (negâh, look, glance); see there for further information.
