Shanghainese

We're treating Shanghainese as a dialect of Wu, instead of as a separate language. Thus, the L2 header should be Wu, but a {{context}} tag noting Shanghainese specific forms is encouraged when appropriate. Additionally, you may want to take a look at WT:AZH, and note some of the formatting conventions for Chinese. I'm the last person you want to ask questions about formatting, as east Asian languages have always utterly confused me. However, I am capable of sending you in the direction of some more knowledgeable folks, should you desire. Please feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions or concerns. IPA

Because there are several different romanizations for the Wu dialect, i need to put up prponounciations in IPA to indicate proper pronounciations. 大始王皇 00:55, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

The two people I would try are User:A-cai and User:Stephen G. Brown. A-cai really specialized in Chinese, but isn't around as much. Stephen is really a of all languages, and is fairly consistently around. I'm sure one of them would be able to help you. Characters

Hi, I think you should add the character in the "Wu" entry (see how the characters are also included in all the other language sections. 24.29.228.33 01:53, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

actually i realized its a bad idea for me to edit anything, because some characters are not even used in different dialects, and they only share meaning in common.大始王皇 01:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, you should know Wu before adding words. But if you have a reference stating the pronunciations of individuals characters (keeping in mind that a single character may have more than one reading in a given Chinese dialect), I think it would be fine. 24.29.228.33 01:57, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
