This is wrong. Like most English -y nouns sty's plural is sties, the -y becoming -ies. User: PalkiaX50 ^{talk to meh} 20:26, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Please allow me to ask a question about "Sty". What if you are talking about, say, the 'characteristic' or problem of more than one Sty and you are referring to it as possessive? Would it still be spelled "Sties?" For instance, I have experienced, on one occasion, a Sty on an upper eyelid and, after sleeping one night, awakened to have my eyelids "stuck" together because the Sty had caused a second Sty to form on the lower eyelid directly touching the original Sty. The two had, somehow, bled during the night which then dried leaving my eyelids "fused". It took some time with wet, hot compresses, to separate the eyelashes/eyelids. The sentence I was thinking about was something like this: "Sometimes (Stys) can cause a problem by spreading to the opposite eyelid, bursting and bleeding...". Would that BE possessive and if so, would that change the spelling?

No, that is misspelt. The possessive is sty's, but we do not create possessive forms. If you cannot spell words in English, working on the English portion of a dictionary may not be a good choice for you. —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 21:13, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

@Msflair Either learn how to do things right, or stop editing. Our standards are explained at WT:CFI and WT:ELE (there's more, but if you can't figure those out, there's no point in learning the rest). You don't seem to be deliberately trying to make a mess of things, So I haven't blocked you yet- but that will change if you keep ignoring us and adding garbage like you've been adding. P.S. It's great that you're a qualified tailor or what not, but imagine how annoyed you'd be if someone wandered into your workshop and repeatedly did everything wrong, wasting material and sewing arms and legs together. You'd tell them to stop, or make them leave. "But I'm a qualified lexicographer who works on dictionaries!" they tell you. "It doesn't matter; you are in a tailor's workshop here so you need to learn a new set of rules," you tell them. This is the situation we have here, except you're in the lexicographer's shop... Blocked

Equinox has, apparently, blocked me from the entire site because, I guessed, I ask him/her a question. I am not deliberately doing anything and only want to learn how to do things the right way. Since the instructions are written for those who KNOW - technical speak -I'm guessing. Since I am not a Lexicographer, I don't understand the instructions. They just don't make sense to me. Perhaps someone, anyone, could write a "layman's" version and/or a template to follow to add a word. How hard could that be? Really? I would appreciate an answer...
