Etymology 1[edit]

From Ancient Greek Εὐμολπίδης (Eumolpídēs), said to be after an ancestor named Εὔμολπος (Eúmolpos), though perhaps instead from εὔμολπος (eúmolpos, sweetly singing) from εὐ- (eu-, good, well) + μέλπω (mélpō, celebrate with song and dance).
