home row (plural home rows)

  1. The keys in the center row of a typewriter or computer keyboard on which the index fingers to little fingers of a typist's hands rest when not typing. On a standard qwerty keyboard, the home row is made up of the keys ASDF for the typist's left hand, and JKL; for the right hand.
