Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish زهكیر (zihgir, zehgir, “an archer's thumb stall”),[1] from Persian زهگیر (zehgir), from زه (zeh, “bowstring”) + گیر (gir, “that which holds; block, obstacle”).
