Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ku (“neck; throat”) (STEDT); compare Chepang गुक् (“throat”) (Schuessler, 2007). Also compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *kɔʔ (“neck”), whence Mon ကံ (kaʹ, “neck”), Khmer ក (kɑɑ, “neck”), Vietnamese cổ (“neck”) (Schuessler, 2007).
