Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish چلدرتمق (çıldırtmak, to make or let go mad), causative of چلدرمق (çıldırmak, to go mad). Equivalent to çıldır- (to go crazy) + -t- (causative suffix) + -mak (infinitive suffix).
