Etymology[edit]

Cognate with Azerbaijani çimmək (to bathe). Possibly cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (čom-, to sink), Uzbek choʻmmoq (to sink), Kazakh шомылу (şomylu), from Proto-Turkic *čom-, *čöm-.
