încăpea
Romanian
Etymology
From a Vulgar Latin root *incapēre, from Latin capere, present active infinitive of capiō, from Proto-Italic *kapiō, from Proto-Indo-European *kh₂pyéti, from the root *keh₂p- (“to seize, grab”). Alternatively, the prefix în- may have been added in early Romanian. Compare Aromanian ncap, ncãpeari, Spanish and Portuguese caber.
