From úti (“outside”) + tekinn (“taken”), approximately "appearance of having been tossed around by the weather outside".

- (describing a person) weather-beaten, having the appearance of having been outside for long (often with redness from a sunburn or from the cold, often from hiking or skiing)

- (describing a person) sunkissed and healthy-looking, slightly sunburned or slightly tanned from being outside
