From đường + , from Proto-Vietic *k-raːʔ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *kraʔ (road, way); cognate with Muong khá, Pacoh carna (through an infixed form), Chong kraː and Proto-Palaungic *kraʔ. is also fossilized in a few other words, such as sá cày.
