Usage notes[edit]

This is a diacritic that combines with a voiceless, voiced or nasal letter of the appropriate place of articulation, e.g.:

  • p˿ b˿ m˿ (bilabial clicks)
  • t˿ d˿ n˿ (dental clicks)
  • ṭ˿ ḍ˿ ṇ˿ (alveolar clicks)
  • k˿ g˿ ŋ˿ ("velar" clicks – as with the old IPA letter ʞ, these are possibly palatal clicks (current IPA ǂ).)
