Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Proto-Scythian *Skuδat, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kewd- (to propel, shoot)[1]. Cognate with Old Persian 𐎿𐎤𐎢𐎭𐎼 (Skudra).
