Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Unexplained. The connection with κρῖ (krî, barley) and κριθή (krithḗ, barley) is formally unwarranted and a derivation from κρίνω (krínō, to separate) does not seem preferable.

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

κρίμνον (krímnonn (genitive κρίμνου); second declension

  1. coarse barley meal
  2. coarse loaf
  3. (in the plural) crumbs
