[edit]From Proto-Hellenic *méli, from Proto-Indo-European *mélit (“honey”). Cognates include Latin mel, Gothic 𐌼𐌹𐌻𐌹𐌸 (miliþ), and Old Armenian մեղր (mełr).[1]
