Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *péh₂wr̥. Cognates include Old English fȳr (English fire), Old Armenian հուր (hur), Hittite 𒉺𒀪𒄯 (paḫḫur), Tocharian A por, and Tocharian B puwar.
