From Koine Greek Ἰωάννα (Iōánna), from Hebrew יוֹחָנָה (Yôḥānāh, literally God is gracious), feminized form of יְהוֹחָנָן (Yəhōḥānān). Doublet of Яні́на (Janína), Я́на (Jána), and Жа́нна (Žánna).
