From Ancient Greek Ἰωάννα (Iōánna), from Hebrew יוֹחָנָה (Yôḥānāh, literally “God is gracious”), feminized form of יְהוֹחָנָן (Yəhōḥānān). Doublet of Іва́нна (Ivánna), Я́на (Jána), and Жа́нна (Žánna).
