[edit]Cognate with Yakut сүлүүкүн (sülüükün, “water spirit”).
Akhmetyanov suggests a derivation from Chinese 水 (shuǐ, “water”) 龍/龙 (lóng, “dragon”) 王 (wáng, “king”).
