Etymology

Derived from dialectal or Old East Slavic борошень (borošenĭ, travel belongings), through an intermediate form *борохъло before undergoing akanye, itself from *борох, from the same origin *borchъ, whence Czech brašna (travel bag), a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *bʰer-, from where беру (beru, I carry), брать (bratʹ, to carry) and Ancient Greek φέρω (phérō, I carry).
