Etymology[edit]

From Old East Slavic горѧчии (goręčii), from Proto-Slavic *gorę, from *gorěti. Equivalent to горе́ть (gorétʹ, to burn) +‎ -я́чий (-jáčij). Doublet of горя́щий (gorjáščij) and горю́чий (gorjúčij).
