Etymology

Modification of Old East Slavic гурзи pl (gurzi, Georgians). Compare also Old East Slavic гурзиискъ (gurziiskŭ, adj), гурзыньскаꙗ землꙗ (gurzynĭskaja zemlja). Ultimately of the same origin as Persian گرج (Gorj), as the word Georgia.
