  • To express to buy something for somebody in Belarusian the direct object (i.e. something) is in the accusative case and the indirect object (i.e. for somebody) is in the dative case:
    e.g. я купі́ў яму́ кні́гуja kupíŭ jamú kníhuI bought a book for him
