Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic лѣпъ (lěpŭ, “beautiful”), from Proto-Slavic *lěpъ (“beautiful”). Akin to Russian лепи́ть (lepítʹ). Compare typologically Latin fōrmōsus, fōrmō (< fōrma). Also compare the second element of Greek όμορφος (ómorfos) (< Ancient Greek εὔμορφος (eúmorphos) < εὖ (eû) + μορφή (morphḗ)) (for the first one see хоро́шенький (xoróšenʹkij), Latin bellus).
